NATIONWIDE has said posh green space planned for the new development at Oakfield was specifically requested by locals.

It follows comments from South Swindon Parish Council that the parks and green spaces as outlined in plans could be too pricey for council workers to manage.

Nick Spittal, Nationwide’s Senior Commercial Manager, said of the 239-home development in Park North: “The inclusion of lots of green space in our proposed development at Oakfield will be an integral part of its different look and feel and was particularly requested by local residents.

"School children in the area have also contributed to the design of the park and, as a result, we hope these areas will provide welcoming space for people to come together, take a walk and play.

"We’re still in discussions with the Parish council, as well as considering other possible maintenance providers, to ensure these areas will be well maintained, while also keeping costs contained for residents.”
