THE team behind a new bathroom showroom in Swindon pledged to donate part of its initial profits to the town’s community radio station.

Easy Bathrooms and Tiles opened its doors at Bridgemead Retail Park for the first time earlier this month after investing £100,000 into its new home and spending six weeks converting an empty unit at the retail park into the store.

Manager Adrian Hedges announced that five per cent of all the showroom’s profits that are made within the first four weeks of it opening will go towards supporting the work of the not-for-profit Swindon 105.5 station.

Mr Hedges said: “We genuinely want to create something which Swindon people can use at their leisure to create the bathroom they want but we also want to give back, which is why it was so important to choose a local cause to partner with.

“The radio station is brilliant and we look forward to even more fundraising opportunities in the future.”

Swindon 105.5 is funded by grants, donations and corporate support to offer vocational training and work experience to people of all ages in technical and presenting work as well as produce a varied schedule of community-focused radio shows which are on-air 24/7.

Station manager Shirley Ludford said: “It is a time for us to look forward and widen the radio’s support for the business, education and wider communities of Swindon, whilst seeking financial support for our service through sponsorship, donations and advertising.

“We are therefore delighted that Easy Bathrooms has chosen to support the service.”

The staff at the new showroom claim that it is Swindon’s largest bathroom store, with 8,000 sq ft of bathroom and tile displays over two floors.

One customer visiting on the day it opened won a £500 voucher.

Mr Hedges added: “We are extremely excited about the launch of the showroom. I have worked in bathrooms for 13 years and I have never seen such an inspirational store.”
