THE new mayor of Trowbridge David Cavill has announced his chosen charity for the mayoral year 2019-2020.
All fundraising by the mayor this year will be in aid of Ruksak45218, which aims to combat childhood poverty by providing backpacks filled with essential items donated by the public.
Examples of these essential items include, deodorant, toothbrushes, pyjamas, bed sheets and anything else related to personal hygiene and essential living.
The Mayor hopes to help the charity reach their goal of ‘encouraging potential in the youth of today who are the adults of tomorrow’.
Charity founder Rory Donaldson said: “Ruksak45218 are delighted to have been chosen.
"We firmly believe in the potential of each and every young person and will work with young people, aged 5 to 18 and their families, to ensure no-one goes without these essentials in life.”
