THREE Westbury children who raised nearly £2,000 between them for the Royal United Hospital in Bath have been presented with special certificates at Bitham Brook Primary School.
Theo and Rosie White, aged nine and six, completed a 31-mile walk to raise £1,000 for the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group.
The BCUSG provides a range of equipment for cancer patients at Bath’s RUH.
The siblings walked a mile a day for a month after their grandmother Angela Iles was successfully treated for cancer at the hospital.
Theo said: "Rosie and I are very proud to have raised so much. It was a little tiring but at the same time it was fun."
Lucas Wint, 10, ran his own 5k in aid of BCUSG after the Bowerhill Bomber event was cancelled because of bad weather.Undeterred by this, a family friend took Lucas out and they ran their own race around Westbury. On hearing about Lucas’s determination, the Bowerhill Bomber organisers also took him around the 5k route. He said: "My best friend Jack's nan had cancer and I wanted to do something to help."
Cllr Sheila Kimmins, Westbury's Deputy Mayor, presented them with certificates on Wednesday June 12 watched by Sally Pinner and Mike Taylor of the BCUSG.
