TO celebrate Clean Air Day on Thursday 20th June, Stagecoach West are offering discounted bus travel across Swindon.
The travel provider is urging people to leave the car at home and catch the bus, in a bid to reduce carbon emissions, by knocking £5 off the cost of a ticket.
Stagecoach West are offering customers an Explorer ticket for just £2, which covers unlimited travel on their entire West network for one day.
The ticket, usually £7, can simply be purchased on the Stagecoach Bus App using the discount code SCGLCAD2019.
Clean Air Day is a global scheme to encourage people to make environmentally-friendly travel and lifestyle decisions, to improve air quality and reduce harmful emissions.
Across the UK’s city centres, air pollution is having a major impact on health, with dirty air contributing to 36,000 deaths each year.
Rupert Cox, managing director of Stagecoach West, said: “We’re pleased to be supporting Clean Air Day and helping to raise awareness of the benefits of travelling by bus.
"We hope this offer will encourage people to support Clean Air Day and try out their local bus service.”
Bus travel reduces congestion and carbon emissions by replacing up to 89 cars for every full double decker bus on the road.
Over the last year, Stagecoach West has introduced greener buses as part of a £3m investment in new vehicles.
