Councillors received an apology from the chief executive of Swindon Borough Council Susie Kemp after a funfair was mistakenly approved for the car park of the County Ground in February.
A council officer had given it the nod without telling Central ward councillors.
One of those members, Coun Bob Wright said: “We didn’t know anything about it and it was clear that a mistake had been made in authorising the funfair.
“We got an apology from the chief executive.”
When the fair was about to start, a County Road resident Adorabelle Shaikh, who has since been elected as a Labour councillor for Central, complained that residents hadn’t been consulted or even told: “The first we knew was when we opened our door to see the vehicles turning up.
"We certainly didn’t get any apology from the council all we knew is what the council said to the Adver.”
