PLANS to make Beckhampton roundabout safer have been proposed along with reduced speeds on the A4 in West Kennet.
The chair of Avebury Parish Council Stephen Stacey said their transport group had met last week and were updated on the two A4 safety projects by Wiltshire County's highways division.
At the meeting Wiltshire Highways and their consultants Atkins explained draft designs to reduce speeds and create safer routes for pedestrians and cyclists at West Kennett and the roundabout at Beckhampton.
The projects featured in exhibitions presented to parishioners from Avebury and nearby communities last year.
One concern raised was over ending the right hand turning off the A4 into the Avenue by closing the middle ghost lane in order to narrow the road in West Kennet to slow traffic.
Tomorrow (Friday) is the summer solstice in Avebury and the National Trust have asked visitors to use the pay and display carpark on the edge of the village and not to park on the main road.
