A WORTON man has smashed the world record for skipping and entered the Guinness Book of Records as a result.
Darren King skipped an astonishing 59,916 times in 8 hours breaking the previous best of 56,000 skips.
He said: " I broke the record at Marlborough Fitness and Performance Centre in Manton, near Marlborough, where I raised £5,000 for Prostate Cancer UK, as my father has the disease so it's a cause close to my heart."
But that wasn't enough so Mr King tackled the 12hour skipping record, this time switching to Erlestoke Prison in April.
This time the record was 76196 skips set by a Japanese skipper who currently holds the record for 24 hours.
He said: "I broke the existing record by around 12,000 skips and got confirmation of my record this week at 88,202 skips."
He burnt 900 calories an hour and his way into the Guinness Book of Records.
