A DRIVER was said to have been stoned en-route to Stonehenge for the summer solstice celebrations.
Police said they stopped the Warwickshire man in Highworth on Thursday night, later arresting the driver on suspicion of drug driving and possession of cannabis.
Writing on Facebook, Swindon North Police joked: “The suspect was travelling to Stonehenge to see the sunrise. Unfortunately, you can’t see the sun from the inside of a cell.”
A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman later said the driver, a 43-year-old man, had been arrested for cannabis possession. He was released under investigation – but not before he had been missed a spectacular sunrise at the Salisbury solstice.
