VISITORS to Barton Farm Country Park in Bradford on Avon have recently noticed a lot of activity on the river by the rowing club.

At the end of May the club held a regatta which was the culmination of its Spring Learn to Row course.

A spokesman for the Bradford on Avon rowing club said: "This was very successful with the oldest pupil being over 70-years-old.

"The races had crews of a mixture of age and ability, the winning combination included two senior men in their sixties and one junior of just 13-years-old."

At the beginning of June there was a visit from FreshStart Films wanting to show the benefits in taking exercise for body, mind and soul, which producers felt the rowing fitted the role completely.

The film is being made in partnership with Age UK and will be a training aid to staff in the Bristol, Bath and Swindon areas.

A spokesman said: "The rowing club were glad to have played their part in this important exercise.

"We felt like we were able to really make a difference.

"Anyone interested in returning to or learning to row can find more information or register for the next learn to row at http://www.boarc.co.uk."
