THOUSANDS of pounds were raised for Fitzmaurice Primary School when it held its annual Strawberry Fair over the weekend.

Organised by the school's PTA, the event on Saturday raised over £6000 for the school which will be spent on equipment and resources.

Families were entertained with inflatables, circus skills, fairground rides, animals, a strawberry themed market, a bbq and refreshments.

Emma Macquarrie, chairman of Friends of Fitzmaurice School said: "It was a fantastic day and we raised just over £6000, which is a record amount for this event.

"We were so lucky to have perfect weather and have had lots of lovely feedback from people saying how much they enjoyed the day.

"We had a variety of attractions including rides, inflatables, games, a market area, live performances, circus skills and tropical animals to name a few.

"We’re delighted with how much the event raised as every penny we raise is for the benefit of all the children at the school."

The PTA are planning on holding another Strawberry Fair next year.
