YOUNG golfer Jennifer Almond has quickly got in the swing of role as junior captain at Marlborough Golf Club and has raised £1,000 from her first golf day.

Jennifer, 15, is to donate the money to Julia’s House children’s hospice in Devizes which provides support for sick youngsters and their families.

She said: “I want to thank everyone who helped us raise the money and to thank all those who have helped organise and run things on the day and donated to the raffle.”

The winning team was captained by Finn Mulvey in the contest which had a best two scores from four format. Also competing in the winning team were Tom and Pauline Ruddick and Finn’s dad Sean.

Runners-up were Trish King, Kate Bowers, Sheila Hubie and Amanda Conrad. Will Grant’s longest drive winner measured 290 yards

A club spokesman praised Jennifer for organising such a successful golf day and said: “We are very proud of our wonderful Juniors who set a fine example to the rest of us in dedication, sportsmanship and good manners.”
