TWO men are still on the run following the bleach attack in Oxford nearly a fortnight ago.

The pair, described only as "black men in dark clothing", left a 42-year-old man in hospital after attacking him with household bleach in a Blackbird Leys public toilet.

The horrifying incident – which took place in Knights Road on the morning of Sunday, June 16 – also saw four police officers taken to hospital as a precaution. All have since been discharged, with the victim suffering 'no long term injuries'.

Police say they are yet to make any arrests in relation to the 'targeted attack', which it has labelled an 'isolated incident with no threat to the wider public'.

Asked if there had been any update on the case yesterday, Thames Valley Police spokesman David Marsh explained: "No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing."

The force has repeatedly appealed for witnesses following the assault, in which the man felt a 'burning sensation' after having the liquid thrown over him from a clear bottle.

He ran to the nearby Post Office for help.

There were concerns that he was the victim of an 'acid attack', but police later confirmed that the previously unidentified substance used in the 11.30am assault was household bleach.
