We asked for your favourite places to go for a vegetarian treat.

We had lots of feed back and here's your top five.

McTaffs proved to be a popular choice amongst our readers.

The cafe and tearoom is based in The Crossing at the Brunel Shopping Centre.

Its friendly staff offer cakes and scones plus a range of vegetarian options including salads and sandwiches.

Swindon Advertiser website user gravybeard said: “McTaffs do a lovely vegan breakfast. They also do vegan cupcakes too.”

Martinswindon agreed: “McTaffs is an excellent little cafe in general. Awesome coffee and cakes.”

It’s open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 5pm and 10am to 3pm on Sunday.

Firmly Planted received high praise for its vegan offerings.

The market vendor run by Sally and Michael sets up a stall at the MacArthur Glen Designer Outlet regularly. It also pops up at other farmers markets around Wiltshire.

Kerry Hammond said: “It has to be Firmly Planted. They are at the farmers market every Sunday (and most Saturdays).

“They do the best jack-fruit chilli and vegan hotdogs.”

Ray Brown seconded that recommendation. He said: “Check them out at the outlet mall food market and farmers market on the weekend.

“Great hot dogs, chilli, and mac and cheese. They are lovely and super-friendly guys too.”

The cosy Smile Thai Cafe and Takeaway is worth checking out for fresh food and takeaways with good service.

Website user Becky29 recommended the Old Town eatery for its top Asian cuisine and wide range of vegetarian and vegan options.

She said: “The Smile Thai Cafe has amazing vegetable tempura and Panang curry. It’s the best.”

The Eastcott Hill cafe is open from Monday to Saturday 12pm to 2.30pm and 5pm to 10pm.

The Bakers Cafe in Emlyn Square aims to bring local people together over good food, drink and conversation in the heart of Swindon’s historic railway village.

Website user Becky29 said: “This is a great local cafe which is run by a social enterprise that does some very tasty veggie dishes as well as meat ones.”

The cafe is managed by the Mechanics’ Institution Trust and opens from Tuesdays to Fridays from 11am to 3.30pm, with lunch served from 12pm to 3pm, then reopens from 5pm to 7pm.

On Saturdays, it is open from 9am to 4pm serving breakfast, lunch and cakes.

Anish Harrison and Rebecca Harrison singled out Indys Vegan Kitchen and The Ridge for their vegetarian and vegan options.

Indys operates out of The Crossing and The Ridge is based in Shaw Ridge Leisure Park.

Website user Becky29 suggested visiting The Core in Old Town for “a healthy but really tasty Halloumi and quinoa salad.”

The Core is open from 8am to 3pm Monday to Friday and open til 4pm on Saturday. Indys is open from 9.30am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and 12pm to 4pm on Sunday.
