ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: A tipper truck driver has been given a 20 month ban after getting behind the wheel of his construction vehicle drunk.

Nicholas Samways, 45, of Haycombe Drive, Bath, was picked up on the Brinkworth Road, near Wootton Bassett, on May 10. Tests showed the level of alcohol in his breath was more than twice the drink-drive limit.

He admitted the offence, was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

SOUTH CERNEY: A man who stole £10,000-worth of premium goods from Cotswold Outdoors has been ordered to pay back two thirds of the value in compensation.

Between May and November last year, Nicholas Gregory, 25, of Barnsley, Cirencester, took Garmin watches, Land Rover phones, shoes and jackets from the South Cerney branch of Cotswold Outdoors.

Gregory pleaded guilty to theft. Swindon magistrates made a 12 month community order, telling him to complete 120 hours’ unpaid work, 15 rehabilitation activity days, £6,000 compensation, £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: A burglar who broke into a town mobile phone shop has been given an electronic tag.

Nicholas Bray, 22, of Lime Kiln, pleaded guilty to entering as a trespasser Treasures Mobile Phone Service Centre on November 18 last year with intent to steal.

Magistrates ordered him to abide by a night time curfew and complete 33 rehabilitation activity days. Bray must pay £163.83 in compensation, an £85 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

BROADGREEN: Shebhaz Dastagir, 21, of Carver Close, was found to be more than twice over the drug drive limit.

Tests showed the Stratton man, picked up behind the wheel of his Vauxhall Astra on Manchester Road on January 18, had 5.2 microgrammes of a cannabis by-product in a litre of blood. The legal limit is two microgrammes.

Dastagir pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and possession of cannabis. He was banned from driving for 22 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs.

OLD TOWN: Valentin Dimitrov, 34, of Victoria Road, was fined £120 and banned from driving for 17 months after he a charge of drink driving.

The Bulgarian man, driving his Mercedes along Cirencester Way on May 14, was found by police to be almost two times over the drink-drive limit. Dimitrov was ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

TOWN CENTRE: Aloysius Maia, 28, of Roseberry Street, was handed a 17 month driving ban after he admitted drink driving and driving without a licence or insurance.

Maia was found to have 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35. Magistrates fined him £383 and ordered he pay £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.

PINEHURST: Vauxhall Corsa driver Caroline Chidgey, 53, of Beechcroft Road, was fined £80 for failing to stop after scraping her car along another vehicle at Bridgemead McDonald’s.

Chidgey, who pleaded guilty, was ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge, £85 costs and her licence was endorsed with five penalty points.

SWINDON: Samuel Dibben, 26, of New Park Street, Devizes, has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 38 months.

He admitted a charge of drink driving. Police picked the Ford Fiesta driver up on Barnfield Close on May 11. Tests showed he had 47 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The limit is 35. He was fined £135 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

CRICKLADE: Jack Embling, 20, of Lady Mead, has been fined £80 after he was found in possession of an eighth of a gramme of cannabis. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

WROUGHTON: Stephen Olphert, 33, of Perry’s Lane, was fined £692 for drink driving. A breathalyser test found the Audi Q3 driver had 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. Olphert pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol. Magistrates sentenced him to a 17 month driving ban and ordered he pay a £69 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

GORSE HILL: A Cricklade Road woman who destroyed tyres and was found with a kitchen knife has been given a rehab order.

Gina Dunford, 39, pleaded guilty to harassing one man, destroying two tyres of a Honda Civic belonging to another woman and having a kitchen knife with her in public without good reason.

Magistrates made a community order, requiring her to complete 30 rehabilitation activity days. She was fined £195 and ordered to pay £250 compensation to the car’s owner. She must also pay £170 in costs and victim surcharge.
