A road sign, in a very bad state, banning through traffic from travelling into Wanborough from the Foxhill junction has been repaired.

But it could soon be removed, as the restriction it indicates is possibly going to be dropped.

The circular sing banning motor vehicles from the village "except for access" had become almost illegible - all the colour had been bleached form it by the sun and the graphic was peeling off.

That sign has now been replaced, showing a motorcycle and a car within a red circle.

The restriction was imposed in the late 1970s to prevent traffic using Wanborough as a cut through form junction 14 of the M4 to the A419. It also restricts traffic the other way from Covingham, which should not travel further south than the Foxhill junction. Swindon Borough Council is discussing dropping the order with relevant parish councils.
