This months Camera Club winner has been revealed as Dominika Kolanczyk from Haydon Wick who won for her picture of poppies at sunset.

After winning, the 28-year-old said: “I took the photo near Badbury Clump just before sunset. I have been waiting for this opportunity since July 2018.

“Poppies only make an appearance for a short time and I'd seen the possibilities for my composition.

“This particular poppy was taller than all the others and I thought it would look great with the sun setting behind it.

“Photography is my hobby and I try to get out as much as I can with my camera.

“Ironically, this was taken with my 13mps mobile phone, but I normally use a NIKON P900.

“It just shows that you don't always need high-spec camera.

“I feel very honoured and pleased.

"I have been a member of Swindon Camera Club since 2017.

“I joined the group because I wanted to improve my skills. I never even dreamt of my photos being published, let alone one of them winning ‘photo of the month’!

“I feel very honoured and pleased. It also encourages me to get out with my camera even more.

“I will spend the vouchers towards new camera gear, perhaps a new tripod.”
