A LORRY driver had a lucky escape this morning after his vehicle ploughed into a tree.
And the man, who was taken to hospital for treatment, received only cuts and bruises in the crash in Savernake Forest.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 7.15am to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the A346 at Savernake.
“It involved a lorry which had collided with a tree.
“The male driver was taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment for cuts to his hands and his head. His condition is not believed to be serious.
“The local authority was contacted to deal with clearing the road.”
The road was shut for several hours on Monday morning to allow the police and council to treat the driver and clear the road.
