PUPILS, parents and the deputy head of Lavington School have swam the Channel to raise over £7,000 for charity.

Two of the three teams who participated in the challenge completed the crossing, as they raised funds for Cure Leukaemia, to show support for fellow student Archie Stradling.

Senior Deputy Headteacher Lisa Adams issues a challenge every year to ‘help raise aspirations for our young people, create memories and develop skills which will make them more resilient, confident and successful people’.

She said: “To put into perspective what these parents, students and I have achieved, more people climb Mount Everest in a year than have ever swam the English Channel.

“This was definitely one of the hardest challenges I have ever organised for the school community but it gave so much to all the swimmers.”

The Chargers, made up of 14-15-year-olds, finished in 13hrs 8mins

The Lavington Chasers, made up of four parents, three children and Mrs Adams, completed the crossing in 16hrs 13mins.
