FRIENDS and family of keen golfer Andy Tilbury, who died last year from pancreatic cancer, raised charity cash in a way that would have pleased him.
For they organised a tournament at Erlestoke Golf Club for Macmillan Cancer Support and raised £2,806.
The money was presented to the charity on July 12 at Seend Community Centre close to where Mr Tilbury, who died aged 68, lived with his wife Barbara.
Cash raised was boosted by a raffle supported by many businesses including Gaigers where Mr Tilbury, worked as a driver for many years.
The day was organised by his son-in-law Glen Smart and friend Wayne Sainsbury.
Mr Tilbury's daughter Claire Smart said: "The whole idea was so fitting as my dad had a huge love of golf. We want to say a huge thank you to everybody who helped to make Andy's golf day such a success and so memorable.
"Many people were very kind in donating so many wonderful prizes for what made an amazing raffle.
"People's kindness and generosity have been overwhelming and made us so proud to remember what a great man he was, and what great people we continue to be surrounded by."
Mrs Tilbury also thanked everyone who had helped make the day a success. Andy would have loved it. He loved his golf and was always happy and smiling."
