THIS photograph was taken at Yeomans Miller, a travel agency in Swindon’s Commercial Road, the day after humans first set foot on the moon.
On the left is Reginald Barnes, proprietor of the next door childrenswear shop.
On the right is travel agent Colin Fitzgerald, who is handing Mr Barnes written confirmation of his place on the first holiday flight to the moon - whenever that might be.
At the time, it was generally believed that commercial flights would be available with in a few years.
Mr Barnes, we said, attempted to persuade his wife to join him, but she had tried flying once and didn’t like it.
