THE gardens at The Old Mill, Ramsbury, near Marlborough will be open to the public on Sunday (aug 4) as part of the National Gardens Scheme.

Annabel and James Dallas have created a garden where although the water running through a multitude of channels no longer drives the mill it provides a backdrop for whimsical garden of pollarded limes and naturalistic planting. Paths meander by streams and over small bridges. Vistas give dramatic views of downs beyond. A potager style kitchen garden and separate cutting garden provide a more formal contrast to the relaxed style elsewhere. Limited wheelchair access as gravel paths and bridges and very soft ground in places.

Once in Ramsbury, by The Bell pub follow sign to Hungerford. The garden is behind yew hedge on the right 100yds beyond The Bell. Open 2-5pm, adm £5.50, chd free. Tea. Refreshments in aid of local charities.
