WASDELL Group's plans to build what it called a science park on fields between the A419 and Wanborough sparked objections from hundreds of angry villagers.
Protests revolved around the two-stage scheme being out of keeping with the area and contributing to urban sprawl that would erode the space between the village and Swindon.
A massive new HQ for manufacturing and distribution work would be built on the site followed by a 'science park' with buildings for tech companies to use.
The plans went on public display last September and ward councillor Gary Sumner pointed out that the land was not allocated for development.
In April, UK Science Park Association founding member Dr Malcolm Parry even questioned whether the plans could accurately be called a science park.
