A NEW restaurant will launch later this year as an Old Town pub plans to expand its premises.
The Royal Oak on Devizes Road will fill the property next door with tables and chairs to create an extra dining room for its new and regular customers.
The expansion follows what the pub's owner Dan Field hailed as a successful four years for the business that he said was known for its range of gins, oysters, and weekly jazz events.
He told the Adver about his new venture:“I’m delighted that we’ve managed to secure the building next door.
“Work has already begun on transforming the empty shell into an extension of what we have already created here at The Royal Oak.
“The support from our loyal customer base and the community of Old Town has been fantastic.
“We’re delighted that we can continue to offer fantastic seafood dishes, but now in a slightly different restaurant-feel setting.”
It is expected that the restaurant expansion will be ready and open for business in October.
News of the upcoming new restaurant broke after eagle-eyed neighbours spotted signs on display in the pub's windows which advertised for staff vacancies.
