PLANS to expand a nursery in Warminster from 45 to 70 places from September by moving into a neighbouring building have been objected to by Warminster Council.

Barney Lodge Nursery School, on Westbury Road, wants to increase in size by expanding the nursery into neighbouring residential buildings. It also has plans to allow up to 70 children to be registered to attend the nursery.

Chairman of Warminster town council's planning advisory committee, Councillor Steve Jeffries said:“The Town Council opposed the last application for this site, and is even more strongly opposed to this expansion plan.”

"This is not an appropriate site for a nursery for 70 children. We hope Wiltshire Council pay attention to our views.”

Barney Lodge Nursery School said: "The Department of Education requires outdoor play when weather permits. The site operates a rota of outdoor play to ensure adequate staffing for safety reason and to limit the noise impact on neighbours."

"One year allows for the seasonal use of the outdoor play area to be evident over all four seasons.
