VETERANS in Trowbridge who have health conditions and would like to move back into work are encouraged to get in touch with The Poppy Factory.

The appeal comes after shoppers in the town voted for the employment charity to receive £4,000 in funding through the Bags of Help scheme.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch the community funding project, with grants raised through carrier bag sales. Customers cast their votes using blue tokens given out at the Tesco Extra in County Way, Trowbridge and at Tesco Express in Brook Road, Frome Road and Eastbourne Road in Trowbridge, Thornhill Road in Warminster, Leigh Park and Fore Street in Westbury, and Blenheim Park in Bowerhill.

The funding will help The Poppy Factory support more wounded, sick and injured veterans in the area.

Deirdre Mills, Chief Executive of The Poppy Factory, said: “We are so grateful to everyone in and around Trowbridge who showed their support for our wounded, injured and sick veterans by using their tokens to vote for The Poppy Factory.

“This important funding will go directly to our employability programme, helping us support ex-Forces men and women in the area who want to flourish in new jobs and careers, no matter what health conditions and other barriers they may face.”

The Poppy Factory works with businesses to transform the way employers think about recruiting people with physical or mental health conditions.

Veterans with health conditions who would like help getting back into work are encouraged to call The Poppy Factory by phone on 020 8939 1837, by email to gybtw@poppyfactory.org or by registering online at www.poppyfactory.org
