A PENSIONER grabbed a woman by the throat and swore at children after storming a Swindon-built mini-golf course.

Michael Feeney, 67, raged at staff and visitors at Rochester Cathedral's controversial attraction, which was put in place by HM Adventure Golf of Lydiard.

Feeney attacked chaplain Margaret Moore after she approached him outside and is said to have ranted: “This isn’t f***ing Disneyland, this is a f***ing cathedral, this is a f***ing disgrace.”

He pleaded guilty to riotous, violent or indecent behaviour in a churchyard under the Ecclesiastical Courts Jurisdiction Act 1860 and one count of common assault.

Feeney will now have to pay £85 in costs and was also given a 12-month conditional discharge.

During the case he said: “I am extremely ashamed about it. I am trying to be a nice person.

“I am not against the cathedral at all. I go into there to pray sometimes.”
