After calls for a food donation box, the Morrisons in Dorcan finally has one.

The new box allows customers the chance to donate an item of food to the Domestic Violence Outreach Service.

Leanne Hyde, the community champion for the Morrison store, said: "I hope, as people shop, they will pick up an item and then put it in the box on their way out.

"But of course, if someone comes in with an item they wish to donate we're not going to say no. We won't just let Morrisons bought food be in there.

"I think the customers like it, they've been asking for quite a while and now we finally have one.

"I enjoy working as a community champion, I work as the champion in the morning then as a worker the rest of my day."
