Swindon’s MPs were incredibly pleased to have secured part of the government’s £100m town fund.

Justin Tomlinson, North Swindon MP, and Robert Buckland, South Swindon MP and justice secretary, were overjoyed that the town would be receiving a £25m cut of the overall fund.

Robert Buckland said: “Both Justin and I pressed for Swindon to be included in this new initiative by a Conservative government that is working to level-up opportunities.

“This gives Swindon access to a new fund for the development of local infrastructure projects.

“I will be briefing local businesses today about this great opportunity for our town.”

Justin Tomlinson agreed with Robert that this was a great win for Swindon, saying: “This is a real boost for Swindon’s ambitious economic plans, helping to unlock further investment and growth.

“The Conservative government again backs Swindon in response to myself, Robert Buckland, Swindon Borough Council and the local business community working together to champion our town.”

Justin also believes that the fund should be used to help boost regeneration on the high street which has seen numerous stores close over recent years.
