DEVIZES School is getting ready to celebrate its golden anniversary in style with an open day to beat all others.

The school regularly opens its doors for people to take a trip down memory lane but on October 12 they are hoping for something a bit special.

Publicity officer Karen Sims said: “We hope lots of people will join us between 11am and 4pm for our 50th anniversary reunion.

“There will be lots of great events and displays available throughout the day, including a visit from TV antiques expert Paul Martin who will do a talk and book signing from 11.30am.”

Mac’s Theatre School will perform and Devizes historian and ghost walk guide John Girvan will take cellar tours.

Memories will come back with the chance to look at old yearbooks, photos and memorabilia.

A number who were pupils 50 years ago when the school was created have been in touch to say they will be there. Head Phil Bevan aptly celebrates his own 50th on the same day.
