RESIDENTS from Trowbridge and the surrounding area are being invited to join the Explore Art Trowbridge (EAT) trail this Saturday September 14.

The event offers special Heritage Open Days with free activities and events across Trowbridge town centre.

Hanne Dahl, collections and exhibition officer at Trowbridge Museum, said: “This collaborative event aims to showcase the amazing and growing cultural and artistic offer in Trowbridge."

Talks and exhibitions from 10am to 4pm include the West England Festival of Textiles (WEFT) at the Drawing Projects, Bridge House, Stallard Street, in association with Trowbridge Museum.

There will also be a maker's talk at 3pm from Alice Kettle, a contemporary textile artist, writer and lecturer who lives in Somerset.

From 10am-4pm, the Shaped Space exhibition featuring site-specific drawings by British sculptor George Meyrick will also be on display at Bridge House.

The Court Street Gallery in Court Street, Trowbridge, has an exhibition of work by artist Cath Siswick, from 10am to 1pm.

Visitors will also be able to tour some of the town’s historic buildings as part of National Heritage Day.

In addition, from 10am to 3pm, the Trowbridge Weavers Market is staging its third and biggest event in Fore Street, Market Street and at the Town Hall. Entry is free.

A pop-up Art Fair hosted by the Cloth Road Artists is taking place from 11am to 3pm in partnership with Emmanuel’s Yard in Church Street, Trowbridge.

Town Hall Arts will host behind the scenes guided tours from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
