PEOPLE in Calne may have to look elsewhere to get their hair cut from October 1, as a unisex salon is to close after almost 40 years.
Myra Sharp, owner of Spider's Web hair salon, on Oxford Road, will cut her last luscious lock on September 30 as she will turn to retirement after a life of chopping hair.
The 74-year-old hairdresser described the last 39 years as 'wonderful' and explained she will miss her customers most of all.
She said: "It's been a brilliant experience, and I'm going to miss it terribly.
"The people in Calne, whose hair I have been cutting everyday, are just brilliant, I'm really going to miss seeing them so often.
"I've been a hairdresser ever since I left school, and I can't think of anything else I would have wanted to do with my life.
"I've loved every moment."
Mrs Sharp has run the salon since it's first day of operation in 1980, when it was above the Dixon's store in Calne.
Her landlord has recently put a planning application in, to turn the salon into a house.
