FIREFIGHTERS from Corsham are planning to climb England’s three highest peaks in their fire kit for charity - on a day when temperatures could reach 21 degrees.
On Saturday the group will be taking on Scafell, Scafell Pike and Helvellyn peaks, walking 12 miles and climbing 1,800m.
The Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service team is made up of Tom Page, Paul Clifford, Chris Hughes, Mark Evans, Simon Chun, Luke Somerville and Andy Webster, together with former firefighter Lee Tregelles.
Crew manager Andy Webster said: “We have already been busy fundraising locally, with a very successful concert and charity auction at the Town Hall on Friday, a quiz, and a collection around the local pubs.”
“We have been shown such generosity by members of the public and businesses, we are really grateful. This latest challenge is potentially the toughest yet but it’s for two great causes and we’ve been training hard”
The team has previously completed a range of challenges, all in fire kit, raising over £10,000 for a number of charities like the FireFighters Charity, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Julia’s House Hospice, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Meningitis UK.
This time they will be raising money for the FireFighters Charity and Dorothy House Hospice.
