AN ELDERLY woman and her dog have died following a road traffic collision on the A303.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the two-vehicle collision happened on the westbound carriageway of the A303, close to Chicklade, at around 11.10am yesterday September 18.
It involved a white Volvo and a motorhome.
The driver of the motorhome, a woman in her 80s from the Taunton area, died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed. A dog which was inside the motorhome also died.
The driver of the Volvo suffered minor injuries.
The road was closed in both directions for approximately five hours to allow collision investigation work to take place and for the scene to be cleared.
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw either vehicle beforehand, or who witnessed the collision. Please call PC Charlotte Sartin, from Wiltshire Police's Collision Investigation Unit, on 101.
