Silver Sunday is coming to Pinehurst this weekend.
As part of a nationwide event Central Swindon North Parish Council will be holding a free afternoon of entertainment with a high tea on Sunday October 6 at 3pm.
The aim of the afternoon, held at Pinetrees Community Centre in Pinehurst Circle, is to cherish the older generation who may feel isolated in our society.
Michaela Johnston, centre manager said: "This event is to give something back to and celebrate our older generation, helping them to get out of the house and meet people.
"Silver Sunday is a day in the nation’s hearts where older people feel valued and are given new opportunities to keep their minds and bodies active, learn new skills, and make new friends."
Everyone over the age of 60 is invited and free transport can be arranged for those living within the Parish.
The event is part of a national campaign which aims to tackle the loneliness affecting many older people.
