BUSINESSES from all over Swindon teamed up to share ideas and support each other at Swindon’s first Working Breakfast group meeting.

The event aims to help companies from different industries meet up and use their different skills to work together on big projects and improve their businesses.

Director Rodger Scott said: “It went well and we had a great mixture of companies, from financial advisors and accountants to graphic designers and web developers.

“Everyone was really happy with it and would like to come back - I think it’s safe to say it was a success.

“It’s networking in its widest sense - a lot of networking is only about getting referrals and, though that is part of the event, there’s so much more to it than that.

“We encourage members to think of other ways to help each other. Everyone has different needs, strengths and areas of weakness so it’s important to find ways to cooperate.

“It’s becoming more common for different companies to work together on bigger projects that just one of them could not handle alone.”

Working Breakfast is a Bristol-based networking group that was first set up by Mr Scott five years ago and is expanding its meeting locations to Swindon due to popular demand.

Over the last year, the Working Breakfast groups have had 60 companies take part and 57 of them keep coming back for more.

Complete IT is a member of the Bristol group and its staff liked the idea so much that they encouraged Mr Scott to set up another group in Swindon.

Jessica Symondson of Complete IT said: “It's a brilliant group. Some networking groups we've been too in the past haven't been very good and people are mainly there for a free breakfast but in this one, people were really engaged.

"Everyone wanted to learn about each other's business, talk about what they do, how they can help others, and encourage referrals. It's great to build relationships with clients outside of the office."

Meetings are open to all business owners, whether they’re start-ups or long-standing companies. For an invite, email rodger@working-breakfast.com
