LAWYERS were said to have lost contact with a client accused of fencing a Volvo recovery truck.

Stephen Mimer was due before Swindon Crown Court on Friday morning to answer charges of handling the breakdown truck stolen from Hawksworth Trading Estate-based Scorpion Engineering Ltd in January.

The 45-year-old, of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, is also accused of driving the Volvo without a licence or insurance on Beckhampton Road, Devizes, on January 27, 2019.

When he failed to show up on Friday, barrister Laura Bayles said the solicitors instructing her had had no contact with Mimer since his magistrates’ court appearance.

They had sent a number of letters to his home address but had not heard from the defendant.

Judge Jason Taylor QC issued a warrant for Mimer’s arrest.
