2 Putrid Pumpkins and Spooky Spiders! is the name of a special Halloween-themed event planned by Swindon Museum and Art Gallery in Bath Road on Tuesday, October 29. Running from 11am until 3pm, it will be a drop-in craft workshop with an emphasis on spooky fun. On October 31, again from 11am until 3pm, the Museum and Art Gallery will host another children’s workshop, The Haunted House, with children invited to use a little magic and uncover their own haunted house. 3 The Brighter Futures Halloween Spooktacular, one of the most successful Halloween events in the Swindon area last year, returns on Saturday, October 26. The fun run - or jog or walk, if participants prefer - at Coate Water will be a showcase for spooky costumes, and all who take part can look forward to some surprises along the way. 4 Swindon and Cricklade Railway will run its much-loved Halloween Ghost Train service on Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26 from 6pm to 8.45pm. The carriages and stations will be home to all manner of ghosts and sinister creatures, although the evenings will be suitable for families. Lotmead Farm at Wanborough is best known as an all-year-round venue offering visitors the chance to pick everything from strawberries, raspberries and blackcurrants to carrots, beetroot and rhubarb, but it doesn’t neglect the season of ghosties, ghoulies and long-leggedy beasties. The attraction has teamed up with The Natural Theatre Company to present A Halloween Tale, in which visitors will be invited to help solve a mystery involving characters from classic supernatural literature.
