A HILPERTON man is putting aside his grief to raise funds for a charity which helped search for his mum after she went missing while on holiday.
Alex Bunney, 23, from Trowbridge, is raising money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution with a cake sale.
Mr Bunney, who has Down’s syndrome, lives with a friend with 24-hour support.
The body of his mother, Theresa Hamilton, 65, who lived near Calne, was found on the coast off Ilfracombe in August. The RNLI worked round the clock for days searching for her.
Rebecca Bracey, Alex’s personal assistant manager, said: “He is very grateful for their help and is holding the event in memory ofhis mum to thank them for all their hard work. I’m also running the Bath half marathon 2020 in her honour.
“Alex is being amazingly brave and strong and although very upset and he is giving himself something positive to focus on by wanting to raise money and awareness of a brilliant charity and their volunteers hard work.”
They would like people to bring along a cake. There will be a raffle and so they would appreciate donations, with all proceeds going to the RNLI.Anyone can donate to the sale from 10am-noon on November 24 at Hilperton Village Hall.
