SONGWRITER Mylo Rhodes is getting ready to release his debut single based on personal experience – and he thinks it could be the next Christmas hit.

The 44-year-old, from Shrivenham, spent months composing and producing his own song called I Love Christmas (As Much As I Love You).

He said: “The song is based on my own experience it’s a true expression of love. I started thinking about it at the start of this year. It was a challenge to myself to try and write a song that could stand up against the classic Christmas songs, rather than a throwaway novelty.

He added:“There isn’t a big record label budget behind it guaranteeing it success.

“It may sound crazy and I may not stand a chance of succeeding but my wish is that enough people fall in love with my song for it to be the Christmas number one. I think it’s time for the next Christmas standard.”

The song is about two people falling in love. He added: “My song is just a guy singing a song and trying to make a connection with people.

“It’s also about how important relationships and human interactions are. In this busy, modern world it’s easy to forget that.

Mylo started writing songs a few years ago just for himself. He wrote and recorded the song alone, but it was mixed and mastered by Nick Beere at Mooncalf Studios.

Mylo said: “Music has always been my biggest passion for as long as I can remember. The basic idea for the music came fairly quickly, the lyrics took longer as I wanted to get the feeling exactly right. I recorded a demo of the song first to work out some of the string and woodwind parts as I went along.

“Overall, I spent may be two or three months carrying the song around in my head before I started to record it and hear it come to life. Once I started recording it everything came together really quickly. I’m really happy with it, and I hope other people will like it.”

The singer plans to follow this song with an album next year. He added: “It will be a mixture of my own songs and covers of a few of my favourite songs.”

It will be available on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, Tidal, Google Play from mid-November.
