DEDICATED volunteers are organising a special event to raise money to turn Eastcott into a Window Wanderland for the second time.

Something Wicked will take place on November 1 at the Eastcott Community Centre, featuring music and literature while exploring the darker side of the British landscape.

Author of Poisonous Plants Frederick Gillam will be talking about his book, referring to the folk tales and facts around plants.

Wiltshire-based folk band The Bellflowers perform music on a similar theme.

Chairman of Eastcott Community Organisation Caroline Davies-Khan said: “We are thrilled to have such a wonderfully unusual event at our centre.

“We’ve had Fred come and speak at EcoFest 2018 and he was absolutely captivating.

“The Bellflowers are an amazingly talented duo who create some fantastic pieces, which take you to another time and place.

“This is the perfect fundraising event for this time of year, and we hope you can join us.”

More than 130 people took part earlier this year in the first ever Window Wanderland in Swindon, lighting up the streets with creative displays.

Following a successful event, the community group has now recruited even more streets and is encouraging anyone in Swindon to join in next year from February 28 to March 2

The group has received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and South Swindon parish council.

Tickets for the Something Wicked event cost £8 for advance tickets and £10 on the door.
