TOMORROW’S the big day for rugby fans – England are in the World Cup final.

And pubs in Swindon and the surrounding area are offering the chance to watch the game against South Africa, which kicks off at 9am.

The Dockle Farmhouse in Bridge End Road is showing the game. A spokesman said: “It’s going to be busy. The atmosphere has been excellent, especially for the England games.”

Longs Bar in Old Town is opening at 8.15am. A spokesman said: “We’re all excited for England to hopefully bringing home the World Cup.”

In Swindon, pubs including The Merlin on Drove Road, Queens Tap on Station Road, Harvey in the West Swindon Shopping Centre, Village Hotel Club in Shaw, Windmill in Freshbrook, Cross Keys Inn in Wanborough and The Sun Inn at Coate will all be showing the game. In Highworth, the Goldfinger Tavern's landlady Sharon Johnson said: “I’m excited about the game, but not about getting up early.”

In Wootton Bassett the rugby club is showing the match on its big screen and is opening the kitchen for bacon rolls.

Alongside the rugby club, The Angel in High Street is opening and serving breakfast. A spokesman said: “We’re very excited.”
