Swindon Bus Company is marking Remembrance Sunday by offering free travel to members and veterans of the armed forces throughout the day on buses that will be decorated with poppies.

The firm's head of communications, Nikki Honer told the Adver: “People in this region are rightfully proud of our country’s military, as is our team here.

“As part of this community, we are keen to show our support for servicemen and women.

“The work our troops did, and still do now, in unimaginably hostile war zones is incredibly humbling.

"And we hope, by proudly displaying our poppies and raising awareness for the Royal British Legion, we’re backing our words with actions.

She said: “On Sunday November 10, we welcome all those wearing military uniform, displaying medals or showing their military ID card on board our buses, and they may travel for free with us all day.”

And on the following morning, Armistice Day, the company's drivers will pull over their buses at 11am so they and their passengers can take part in the two minutes’ silence.
