SPECIALLY-adaptable bungalows have gone on sale from the borough council’s housing company.

The 14 two-bedroom homes are part of the authority’s commercial house construction programme which builds new properties to sell and uses the income to support existing services.

Deputy leader Russell Holland said: “I am really pleased we are now able to offer these high quality homes for sale, which will provide an important income stream to support council services.

“The bungalows have the advantage of providing specialist accommodation which will enable people to keep their loved ones closer to them in Swindon.”

Located at Pilgrim Close in Shaw the bungalows have adaptable ensuite bathrooms, level floors and off-road parking as well as rear covered patios

All of the bungalows are wheelchair accessible and can be adapted further to provide other equipment. Construction is due to be complete in February.

The council added the homes will allow the adult social care teams to support occupants with their independence and daily living.

The authority's first project was the award-winning Euclid Terrace, developed on the site of a former nursery.
