Thirsty fundraisers hope to have raised hundreds for charity after enjoying their annual beer festival.

The Wilts and Berks Canal Trust held their Winter Ales, Cider and Sausage Festival in Melksham Assembly Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the poor weather more than a hundred people attended the fun event.

They were able to enjoy ten real ales, four traditional ciders and a range of sausages from local producers, including vegan options.

Visitors drank around 280 pints and ate around 180 sausages.

Profits support the ongoing restoration of the former waterway from the Kennet and Avon Canal near Semington to the Thames and Severn Canal near Cricklade and the River Thames near Abingdon, connecting Melksham, Chippenham, Calne, Royal Wootton Bassett and Swindon.
