AN elderly woman was the target of an attempted theft whilst shopping in Aldi.
Police are appealing for the public's help in identifying two people wanted in connection with attempted theft of an elderly shopper's purse.
The incident happened while the victim was shopping in Melksham on September 9.
PC Nicola Burt, from Trowbridge Community Policing Team, said: "CCTV shows a pair deliberately targeted the victim, following her into the store and waiting for, what they thought to be, the right moment to grab her purse.
"Luckily, a member of the public saw what was happening, prompting the male suspect to get rid of the purse, and challenged their actions.
"I'd warn all shoppers to be careful, make sure your handbag is secure and your purse is in a zipped-up compartment. Handbag dippers are opportunists so make it difficult for them."
