Swindon residents are invited to a support day for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

Coinciding with Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, the free event on November 19 will provide more information about the disease and the support available to patients locally, as well as give the opportunity to meet others affected. Pancreatic Cancer UK’s specialist nurse, Dianne Dobson will be on hand to answer any questions about the disease.

More than 500 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Somerset, Wiltshire, Avon and Gloucestershire this year, and across the UK just seven per cent of people diagnosed will live for five years.

Sarah Bell, Head of Services at Pancreatic Cancer UK, said: “It’s vital that people affected by pancreatic cancer have access to the most up to date information and are made aware of support available to them."

Living with Pancreatic Cancer Support Day will be held at the Community Room, Sainsbury's, Oxford Road, SN3 4EW, 12pm-5pm.
