Great Western Academy in Tadpole Garden Village won Best Educational Building.
The panel of industry experts for the Local Authority Building Control Excellence Awards judged a list of the highest quality projects from around England and Wales to reward technical innovation, sustainability, safety and design.
They said: “In an era of school building where budgets and form are highly constrained, this building demonstrates there is still room for design excellence and elegance. We were also very impressed with the focus on quality from the construction team and the use of technology to ensure compliance. A great project all round.”
Principal Graham Davis said: “We are lucky to work in such a bright, carefully designed building.
“The GWA facilities genuinely enhance students’ learning experiences and they benefit significantly from coming to learn in such a purposeful environment.
“It’s fantastic that the building is the best in the country.”
