The M49 will be shut overnight – potentially causing headaches for those travelling to Bristol and beyond.
The five mile-long motorway connects the M4 and M5.
Highways England said the M49 would be shut southbound between 6pm on Saturday to 10am on Sunday. Drivers should continue on the M4 to Junction 20, where the motorway meets the M5 at the Almondsbury interchange.
The M49 northbound carriageway will be shut from 8pm on Saturday to 6am on Sunday. The diversion will take drivers up the M5 to re-join the M4 at Junction 15 near Swindon.
