SWINDON: Charges have been dropped against a main accused of driving without due care and attention and failing to stop at the scene of a crash.

Mahir Buyukasik, 46, of Roche Close, Liden, had been charged with hitting a cyclist on Cricklade Road with his Seat Exeo on March 22 and driving without due care and attention. The accident was said to have left the cyclist with bruising and pain.

But the offence was withdrawn by the Crown Prosecution Service. Magistrates ordered that the defendant’s costs should be paid from central funds.

RODBOURNE CHENEY: Toni Hester, 21, of Churchward Avenue, denies assault by beating. She was granted unconditional bail for the trial at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on February 24, 2020.

SWINDON: Lukasz Kowalski, 27, of Elgar Close, denies resisting arrest. He was granted unconditional bail for the trial on February 20.

OLD TOWN: James Montague, 33, of Marlborough Road, denies injuring a man and hitting a Mercedes while he was behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Astra in Chiseldon on March 24.

Montague pleaded not guilty to driving without due care and attention and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.The case was adjourned to February 10 for the trial.

WILTSHIRE: Shaun Ryan, 57, of Palmer Street, Chippenham, denies making a false statement with a view to fraudulently obtaining the Disability Living Allowance benefit.

He was granted unconditional bail for the trial at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on February 17.

SWINDON: Matthew Spencer, 37, of Shepton Mallet, Somerset, pleaded guilty to failing to give Wiltshire Police information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle alleged to have caused damage to a height restriction barrier.

He was fined £200, ordered to pay £85 costs and his driving licence endorsed with six penalty points.

FERNDALE: Mitchell Bowen, 26, of Ferndale Road, was fined £283 and banned from the roads for 17 months for drink driving. He must pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

RUSHEY PLATT: Terrence Cook, 48, of Caen View, pleaded guilty to production of cannabis.

He admitted growing the 19 plants. He was sentenced to a 12 month community order, with a requirement to complete 100 hours of unpaid work. He must pay £175 in costs and surcharge.The cannabis plants will be forfeit and destroyed.

TOWN CENTRE: A man who got in the way of traffic on Oxford Road and threatened members of the public has avoided jail.

Gary Gunning, 36, of Spring Close, admitted obstructing the highway, two counts of using threatening behaviour, and criminal damage of a police cell. The charges relate to an incident on September 23.

Gunning also admitted being in breach of a suspended sentence for a public order matter. Magistrates made a mental health treatment order. He must pay £30 compensation to Wiltshire Police and £175 in costs and surcharge.

CRICKLADE: Chloe Morgan, 28, of Thames Close, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on Cricklade High Street on September 21.

She was fined £100 and told to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

SWINDON: Kane Wake, 18, of Lockgate Road, Northampton, admitted drink driving and driving a VW Polo on Great Western Way without a licence or insurance. He also pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis.

Magistrates fined Wake £536, banned him from driving for a year and ordered the destruction of his drugs. Wake must pay £117 in costs and surcharge.

TOOTHILL: Nicolae Astefanoae, 34, of Farnborough, Hants, admitted being in possession of a claw hammer on Belsay in Toothill, causing up to £4,000-worth of damage to a Swindon man’s home and damaging the window of another man’s Mitsubishi 4x4.

He was ordered to pay more than £4,600 in compensation, £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

PARK SOUTH: Clive Gonsalves, 33, of Carstairs Avenue, pleaded guilty to damaging a custody cell at Gablecross police station, abusive behaviour and being drunk and disorderly in Villett Street.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order, with a six month alcohol rehabilitation requirement.

Magistrates fined him £100 and ordered he pay £35 compensation to Wiltshire Police. He must pay £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
